#1 New York Times bestselling author Ilona Andrews launches a brand new Hidden Legacy series, in which one woman must place her trust in a seductive, dangerous man who sets off an even more dangerous desire…
Nevada Baylor is faced with the most challenging case of her detective career—a suicide mission to bring in a suspect in a volatile case. Nevada isn’t sure she has the chops. Her quarry is a Prime, the highest rank of magic user, who can set anyone and anything on fire.
Then she’s kidnapped by Connor “Mad” Rogan—a darkly tempting billionaire with equally devastating powers. Torn between wanting to run or surrender to their overwhelming attraction, Nevada must join forces with Rogan to stay alive.
Rogan’s after the same target, so he needs Nevada. But she’s getting under his skin, making him care about someone other than himself for a change. And, as Rogan has learned, love can be as perilous as death, especially in the magic world.

“10% into this book, I was all ‘Oh My God I love this book’.”

Yes, I am well aware, 2014 is not over yet, but I dare to say this book may be my favorite book of 2014.

Nevada Baylor is a True Seeker which is a rather rare magic ability, and because its nature her magic is a well-keep secret among her family.  Until her latest investigation, her secret is a secret no more.  When Nevada Baylor’s employer assigned her on a mission set to fail, she was determined to find a way to solve the impossible.  When the case become too ugly and dangerous for Nevada and her family, Nevada join force with a surprising ally.  Together they must catch the fire caster and find out whatever agenda behind his latest crimes.

To be honest, I didn’t really like the book cover, but the story itself was outstanding.  Burn for Me is in-between an Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance genre. Compare to authors’ other work, this book definitely emphasizes more on the romance (woot!), but that doesn’t mean it focus less on the world building.  In fact, I seriously love the structure of this book, in the world where Magic heritage means everything and magic hierarchy will put you above everyone else.  Houses of old magic will do anything and everything to search for the perfect magic gene to breed the next heir.

Setting in a modern world that is very much like our own,  Burn for Me was complex but not complicated.  This book has layers of story plot which was full of suspense and actions.  Very great and interesting characters cast that you can’t help but fall in love with.  Witty dialogs and humors that made me laugh out loud many times…literally.

I thought this book has the best elements from both Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance genre.  Basically everything I loved from both genres you can find in Burn for Me.  The world building setup was solid and well-conducted, the leading characters were well-developed.  It introduced intriguing magics and an enthralling plot.  This book worked so well it was fantastic.  While I was reading, I kept checking to see how much more I have left, because I didn’t want the book to end.

Nevada was a little odd, but funny and has a strong personality.  I really enjoyed reading about Nevada and her family, they were freaking hilarious.  In fact, her family makes this book even better than it already was.

Then, let’s talk about our leading male character, Connor “Mad” Rogen, I seriously just love him.  He is lethal, has crazy scary magic ability that isn’t like any others.  He is very self-confidence, but never arrogant.  Because he is just that powerful and confident.  He is a little awkward, or rather has a typical superior personality of a Prime.  When he and Nevada interacts, oh boy it was seriously entertaining.

Couple of my favorite quotes from Burn for Me:

“He didn’t simply walk into the plaza. Those eyes told me that the moment he stepped foot into it, he owned it. I knew I should’ve looked away, but I couldn’t. I just sat there, shocked, and stared.”

“I looked into his blue eyes. No, I was wrong. He wasn’t a tiger. He was a dragon, regal and deadly, and he was coming for me.”

And I’ll leave you with a funny one:

“So the best way to fight you is to strip naked and attack?” His eyes flashed with a wicked light. “Yes. You should try it and see what happens.” (tee-hee)

I truly believe readers would be falling all over for this book, just as I.  I highly recommend Burn for Me for Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance fans, as it has everything from magic, action, mystery to sexy romance!

Once you have finished it feel free to twiddle your thumbs like the rest of us, while waiting impatiently for the next book of the series.

Happy Reading!! XO
